Fibre design and DWDM services
DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) carries many independent channels over a single fibre pair by assigning each one its own wavelength. DataOptix designs, installs and tests DWDM and CWDM systems for data centre interconnect, including optical budget calculations, mux and transponder installation, splicing and end-to-end commissioning. It is how you get far more capacity from fibre you already lease.

How it works
From request to sign-off
Step 1: Design the optical path
We calculate the loss budget across the route, confirm the channel plan and specify the optics needed at each end.
Step 2: Install and splice
Passive and active equipment is installed, fibres are spliced and every connector is inspected and cleaned before mating.
Step 3: Commission and hand over
Channels are turned up one at a time, power levels balanced and the link tested end to end. You receive the traces and the as-built record.

Fibre design and DWDM questions
What is the difference between DWDM and CWDM?
CWDM spaces channels widely (20nm apart) and typically carries up to 18 channels over shorter distances at lower cost. DWDM packs channels far closer (0.8nm or less), supports 40, 80 or more channels, works with optical amplification and suits long-haul and high-capacity links.
Can you work with dark fibre we already lease?
Yes. We test the fibre first to establish its real loss and length, then design the channel plan and optics around the measured figures rather than the provider's estimate.
Do you supply the optical equipment?
We can specify and source it, or install and commission equipment you have already bought. We are vendor-neutral, so the recommendation follows the link requirement rather than a supplier relationship.
How long does a DWDM link turn-up take?
A straightforward point-to-point link with equipment on site is usually commissioned within a day per end. Splicing volume, route length and channel count are what move that figure, so we scope it against your design.
