Structured cabling services
Structured cabling is the planned copper and fibre infrastructure that connects cabinets, rows and meet-me rooms inside a data centre. DataOptix installs, dresses, labels and tests each link to TIA-568 and ISO/IEC 11801 practice, then issues the test results as a certified report. Neat, documented cabling is what makes later changes quick rather than risky.

Every engagement is scoped to your site and your build standard. This is what the work typically involves.
- Cat6, Cat6a and Cat7 copper installation and termination
- Single-mode and multi-mode fibre pulling and termination
- Overhead tray, basket and underfloor containment routing
- Patch panel installation and port mapping
- Cable dressing, bend-radius control and strain relief
- Labelling at both ends to your naming convention
- Fluke certification for copper, OTDR and loss testing for fibre
- Test result reports and updated port documentation
How it works
From request to sign-off
Step 1: Survey and plan
We walk the route, confirm containment capacity and agree the labelling scheme and test standard before any cable is pulled.
Step 2: Install and dress
Cables are pulled, terminated and dressed to the agreed route. Bend radius and separation from power are respected throughout.
Step 3: Test and certify
Every link is tested and the results issued as a report. Any link that fails is re-terminated and retested before sign-off.

Pay as you go carries a 4-hour response SLA. Block-hour customers are dispatched on 2-hour and take priority over ad-hoc requests.

Structured cabling questions
Do you provide the cable and components?
We can supply to your specification or install materials you have already procured. Many customers hold their own stock to keep part numbers consistent across sites, and we are happy to work either way.
Will we receive test results?
Yes. Copper links are certified with a Fluke tester and fibre links are tested for loss and, where the length warrants it, traced with an OTDR. You receive the full result set as a report.
Can you work to an existing labelling convention?
Yes, and we prefer to. Send us the scheme you already use and we will match it exactly so your documentation stays consistent across the estate.
Can cabling work happen outside business hours?
Yes. Cabling in live halls is often scheduled overnight or at weekends to sit inside a change window. Tell us the window and we plan the work to fit it.
